day 4 Part Two

So after the parade and a visit to Rock center
we ventured down to Chinatown for some good
ice cream.  I am not a huge fan of ice cream, but
was game--the rest of the fam. is.  This
place is supposed to have FABULOUS ice
cream--by the time we got there, after walking
and walking, a lot of the "good flavors" were
gone.  Per usual--we waited in a line.

Gray & Josh sporting their ice cream.

We then hoofed it a few more (or more than a few)
blocks to the BB, walking the Brooklyn Bridge is
ALWAYS a favorite thing to do.  Well, over
Easter Break, it was OUR favorite and about
1,000,000 other people's favorite thing.
It was a ZOO!

Powering up with water--while sitting here
a bird pooped on my shoulder--I have heard
somewhere that a bird pooping on you is
"good luck".  Ya, right.

There has been construction on the bridge while
they restore it the past few years...it was
SUPER crowded.  The day was sunny and warm though.

Looking towards Manhattan

We made it to Brooklyn and were excited
to eat at Grimaldi's Pizza.  After walking (again)
a few more blocks (or more than a few blocks)
we got to Grimaldi's---only to find ...

IT WAS CLOSED!!!!

Seriously?  How rude!
(It was Easter after all--I suppose the
staff wanted to spend time with their families--
can you imagine?)

We were starving!  No meals since breakfast.
I was hot, tired, had to pee, was grumpy, wanted
to sit down, wanted to eat, etc.  Josh, Gray & I
sat on the steps of the Grimaldi's while Kyle searched
for somewhere, ANYWHERE that was open

He texted a few minutes later and told us to "RUN!"
He found one last open place that had let him
in saying "You're it!  We are closing the doors
after you and we are also out of food!"

Kyle told the guy we weren't picky and at
that point would've probably eaten ice chips
and been happy.

Needless to say we ran....and how!

I have never been so glad to see a Dt Coke.
And a bathroom.

Which, of course, I had to wait in line to use for
a half an hour.  Sigh.

We got pizza and calzone and were happy to sit and eat.
Lucky for us, they had enough dough and cheese to make
a few simple things.  The owner also gave us some
Easter Cookies on the way out.  They (the owners)
were AWESOME Italians with the BEST accents.

The owner (behind me in line to use the restroom)
said, "Oh my!!!  What is taking these ladies so long?
It's a baaatt-room--how long can that take?"

I know, seriously, right?
How long?!

Besides looking good, batt-rooms, Dt Coke and a
chair, the food tasted great and was VERY
inexpensive.  Honestly I don't even know
what this place was called...they took cash.

Maybe if someone goes back, it won't even
be there anymore....(insert creepy music here!)

The view from our table...the BB!
How sweet was that view?

We finished dinner and walked out to the "pier" to
take some more pictures (all the good ones are on
my camera--again using IPHONE pics here--sorry!

LOVE this view into the city.
LOVE IT!
LOVE IT!
LOVE IT!

Found a cool gate to pose Gray by on the way back
to the subway....

And of course, per usual in Brooklyn, we got lost trying
to find the subway entrance--they seem to "hide them"
over in Brooklyn.  After walking back and forth
and checking directions on phones and STILL coming
up with nothing, we stopped a cute young couple to
ask for directions.  They were helpful newlyweds who
had just moved from Iowa to the big city hoping
to make it big in acting and play writing--and were
super kind and helpful and got us to a subway.

We ended another great day and went "home"
to Adam and Amy's.  They arrived home from Adams
sisters house in Massachusetts and told us all about
THEIR adventures.
