i'm not sure what it is with me and NYC, but i can NEVER
find shoes that work for my feet and walking that much.
this time i brought my super cute Keens, certain that
i would be fine. 1 hour into my first day i had blisters
the size of Texas on my heels and the pack of $6 (for 10)
bandaids i bought kept rubbing off.
i was ready to walk bare foot through NYC (and THAT is
saying something people!!!)
while moaning in agony and sitting at John's Pizzaria,
my sweet husband left me with my dt. coke and went on
a mission to find me some flip flops.
the waiter assumed i had been abandoned by my "date",
i just smiled and ordered for the both of us.
salad and a pizza, how hard can it be?
after about 1/2 hour (it felt like 2 hours) kyle texted
and said "i found some--how do you feel about $22 for
flip flops?"
if you know anything about me, it is that i am CHEAP!!!
seriously people you can buy flip flops for WAY LESS
than $22.
however, desperate times call for desperate measures
and i BEGGED him to fork out the $22 (which by the way
was close to what our DINNER cost that night!!).
he returned to John's and i immediately traded Keens for
the $22 flip flops.
NEVER had anything felt so great on my feet.
Ever!
i say, that was the best $22 i have ever spent!
and i walked just fine in flip flops the rest of my time
in the City.
POST EDIT: my husband wants to know why i can't just
wear the running shoes i work out in everyday....he
says they are comfortable, and well worn, and would be
perfect for walking in NYC.
WHAT?? seriously, WHAT does the man know about style?
or fashion? talk about a way to RUIN an outfit in
a hurry.
i would rather suffer pain, and texas sized blisters,
than stoop to running shoes on my worst day in nyc.
well, which i did! :)

I feel your pain. When we went to Europe I searched to find the best sandals I could wear for a lot of walking.I spent good money on "appropriate" shoes for walking. Within days my feet were in sooooo much pain. I am so happy I brought my cute sandals that I was saving to wear for nice evenings out on the town. I wore them everyday, they were comfy and stylish! Important!
