7:37 pm

That's what time we saw the sun last night--it broke over the ocean just in time to set again and today looks like more of that darn "June Gloom" in July. Yesterday while attending the Oceanside street market, we had an old guy tell us, "I've lived here for 47 years and NEVER EVER EVER in all my time here have I EVER seen weather this bad in July."

Not sure if that made us feel better or worse.

However, in spite of the "bad weather" yesterday was quite fantastic. Pictures to follow upon arrival home.

9 AM-Street Market. Fish and Shrimp Taco's for breakfast. Best.food.ever!

11 AM-Bad weather? No sun? HA! ha ha ha! We laugh in your face! We are going to the beach today anyway. We planned on getting quite the "cloud burn" as proof we had braved the beach for a day. Lots of playing and frolicking in the waves.

1 PM- Grace does an AWESOME faceplant on the ocean floor as she is flipped, quite literally, over by a rogue wave. Her inside bottom lip looks pretty much like chopped liver (braces slamming into said lip). We even had tears and lots of dripping blood. (don't worry folks I do have pictures)

1:45 PM- Giant hole dug by Josh, and camouflaged with towels and seaweed and sand in hopes that his favorite sister will walk over it and fall in. (a repeat of last year when Grace ran right over said hole and fell in as planned.) This years hole was about 4 feet deep...BUT this years Grace was about 1000 times smarter. She looked right at Josh and said, "what? do you think I am that stupid?" He was hoping for a "yes, you are"--but proof positive that she is not only beautiful, but smart as well. Better luck next year--not sure for whom though...josh? grace? Time will tell, right?

2:30 PM- Lizzie is "attacked" by a jellyfish? some sea urchin? seaweed? the sand? in the ocean--her entire back instantly swells into itchy red swollen hives and she is itching madly all over her body.

2:36 PM- Problems all resolved by a trip to the condo's hot tub.

2:42 PM- Josh seen on the beach "smoking" something that looks curiously like a cigar. (Don't panic people, it was only a stick and there was no actual smoking involved).

2:49 PM- We all threatened to get tattoos of the sun this trip, sort of as an act of rebellion, since we can't seem to find any. (sarcasm, of course)

2:50 PM- Bompie digs into her bag of pickles (yup, pickles) she packed up and took to the beach. You will all be proud to know she ate the whole bag as casually as if she were munching on potato chips. Pickles? ...oddest thing ever.

4 PM-Inside for showers and cleaning up.

5 PM- Street Fair, one of my favorite things to do here. Artisans and food artists all selling there wares. Gyros, Fish Tacos, Pizza, Silver jewelry, T-shirts, Belts, Sno-Cones, Art Work, Etc.

7:37 PM- the glorious sun breaks through the clouds for the first time in 5 days, just in time to set. But I am pretty sure I shed a tear or two of joy. It looked so gloriously lovely!

8 PM- off to the Harbor to watch the sunset. Kids bundled in the sweatshirts (we had to buy some here--Sweatshirts!! In JULY!) because they have been so cold.

9PM- In for the night, after the best day here so far.

I have about 900 pictures to choose from when I get home--I will put some up later! :O)

That is seriously a bummer the sun hasn't been out. It sounds like you have done some fun things to keep you busy anyway. I guess the good thing is that at least you won't come home to unemployment this time right? Drive safely home!!!

PS. If you could bring some of that cloudy bad weather here that would be nice because I am getting kind of sick of mid to high 90s ...see what you can do =)
