start spreading the news...

"I'M LEAVING TODAY...." La la la la la...

OH NEW YORK! NEW YORK! We love New York!

Last year Kyle was bumped from an "international" flight (Canada, eh! is international!) In turn, he received a $500 travel voucher valid for one year. A few short weeks later was when he lost his job and the voucher sat pinned to the fridge, forlornly, for a very long time. We realized that it was going to expire in June. And with less than two weeks to use it, we frantically checked airline prices. We could ONLY fly on American Airlines. During this week, round trip tickets from SLC to NYC dropped to the $140 range...as luck would have it...ON AMERICAN AIRLINES!

We squealed with joy! We were giddy with delight! We were going to New York!

Quickly doing the math, calling our friends the Wilcox's and finding a babysitter for the two little girls we booked a flight. It was PRACTICALLY free. Our home away from home (AKA "Hotel Wilcox") was free and the "grandparents babysitting service" wasn't a bad price either.

We were thrilled. An adventure with the two oldest for a very fair price! Memories in the making! We left Wednesday early and travelled all day arriving in NYC in the late afternoon, after a layover in Chicago. (My first time in the windy city--not that I saw anything besides the inside of O'Hare.

Amy and Adam have 4 kids and a busy life, so we thought to ADD to our adventure we would take the bus from the airport
to their house. Luckily for us the bus stop was right outside the terminal on the airport side and a quick walk through Columbia campus to their house...we were set!

After settling in, we hopped the subway to Times Square, Josh was craving cheesecake. (Me? I was saving my "sugar high" for a Crumbs cupcake and/or a black and white cookie.)

The adventure begins...

Stay tuned for the the next day which includes miles of walking and Gracie meeting her Reality TV Star of "Say Yes To The Dress", Randy Fenoli--along with our very own personal
tour of Kleinfelds. (The fancy schmancy wedding dress shop
in Manhattan where you can pay upwards of $30 Grand for a
wedding dress!)

The highlight of this day for Grace this day was walking into Times Square that night and seeing, in technicolor, a 4 floor GINORMOUS FOREVER 21 store. She was certain she had died and gone to retail heaven. I think we walked around FOREVER 21 10 times in the 4 days we were there. If I never see the inside of another FOREVER 21 in my life, it will be too soon!
